Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is a embryo screening procedure, for diagnosis of genetic abnormalities, and fetal infections. It can also be used to establish the sex of the embryo. It is carried out by taking a sample of amniotic fluid, containing fetal tissues, from the amniotic sac.

Chorionic Villus Sampling

Chorionic Villus Sampling is another embryo screening procedure, for diagnosis of birth defect, genetic diseases, and other problems during pregnancy. It is carried out by taking a small sample of cells (chorionic villi) from the placenta, where it is attached to the uterus.
