Freedom of Information Act (2000)

The Freedom of Information Act (2000) grants the public a right to request information held by public bodies within the jurisdiction of the Westminster Parliament. The Scottish Freedom of Information Act (2002) handles FOI for public bodies within the jurisdiction of the Holyroad Parliament - with near-identical wording to the 2000 Act.

Public bodies are only required to provide information given that the release of such data does not violate any other legislation (such as the Data Protection Act) and that it is not reasonably available to the public anyhow.
