Acceleration

Acceleration is a measure of how much velocity is gained each second, e.g. an acceleration of \(1 m/s^2\) would mean each second, the velocity is increased by 1.

Equation

\[ a = \frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t} \]

Where:

  • \(a\) is the acceleration, in metres per second squared (\(m/s^2\))
  • \(\Delta v\) is the change in velocity, in metres per second (\(m/s\))
  • \(\Delta t\) is the time, in seconds (\(s\))
