Stem Cells

Stem Cells are unspecialised cells, that can be used to create specialised cells, or divide by mitosis to create more stem cells.

They are often the topic for heated debates, because of where they come from. This can be easily seen from the following:

  • adult bone marrow
  • embryos
  • umbilical cord blood

Of the three mentioned, embryos provide the most useful stem cells, as they can become any cell.
