Creative Commons Licensing

Creative Commons is a non-profit organisation dedicated to producing a variety of license texts based on certain features.

Features

Creative Commons licenses work on the following features:

Feature Description
Attribution Any derivative work must acknowledge the original author.
Share Alike Any derivation work must be distributed under the same terms.
No-Derivatives The work may not be modified.
Non-Commercial The work may be derived, but not for profit.

Creative Commons licenses can be based on multiple features, for example Attribution and Non-Commercial (CC-BY-SA).

CC0

In addition to the Creative Commons license texts based on the previously mentioned features, Creative Commons have their CC0 license - which allows copyright holders to waive any rights they had, and place the work into the public domain.
