Issues

Technology has enabled people to do great things - such as to communicate with people across the world, or to view the news. However, open protocols and unencrypted text has led to a reduction in privacy, and occasionally security.

Ethical Issues

Advancing technologies is allowing for corporations to replace human workers with machine workers - which often quicker, more efficient, and much less costly in the long-term.

Privacy Issues

Mobile phones are in direct and constant discussions with cell towers, picking out the ones with the best strength to ensure signal is retained. However, by having these constant discussions they release the location of you - that can be used by the service provider, or the police. While it is unavoidable by how mobile devices work - many argue that service providers retaining logs is an attack on their privacy.

Governments, including HM Government, monitor large amounts of data - looking out for terrorist plots and crimes. Many argue that losing some privacy for the purposes of domestic security is a good thing, however not everyone is open to it

Since the World Wide Web is now used by so many, new advertisers have emerged - such as Google, replacing the traditional television, or newspaper adverts with online advertisements, that can be targetted to consumers - making it more likely to result in purchases for the advertiser. While advertisers are happy, as they can spend less on advertising for the same effect, having made advertising more efficient, people argue that companies use personal data for profit by selling data to advertisers.
