Genetic Cross

A genetic cross is a table that can show the probability of alleles passed on to children.

Example

For examples, lets use the eye colour allele. B is a dominant allele and codes for brown eyes. b is a recessive allele and codes for blue eyes. In the example, both parents have brown eyes, but they both carry the allele for blue eyes.

B b
B BB Bb
b Bb bb

From the genetic cross, you can establish there is a 75% chance the child will have brown eyes - with a 50% chance they will be a carrier of blue eyes, and a 25% chance they will have blue eyes.
