Random Access Memory

Random Access Memory, or RAM for short, is a type of computer memory that is used for the temporary storage of programs and files, or just data really. This memory will typically be of a rather high-speed to ensure that it can somewhat keep up with the CPU's clock-speed. Despite this the RAM clock-speed is always going to nowhere close to that of the CPU's clock-speed. Should all the RAM modules run out of space, Virtual Memory would begin to be used, temporarily.
